Pr. Philippe Neyret: 40 years of experience in the service of knee surgery

A world-renowned orthopedic surgeon, Philippe Neyret takes a humanistic look at his profession. “Medicine is an art at the crossroads of several sciences”, confides this native of Lyon France, quoting the famous French philosopher and doctor Georges Canguilhem.
He Graduated in 1981 from the University of Lyon, he occupied for more than 20 years the position of head of service at the Livet Center and, since 2010, at the Albert Trillat Center (la Croix Rousse hospital). The latter was also accredited “FIFA Medical Center of Excellence” in 2012.
In addition to the pure practice of surgery, he is also driven by a passion for transmitting his knowledge. Appointed professor in 1994, the encounter with teaching marked a turning point in his career. “I found myself in charge of the Lyon school of orthopedic surgery at only 37 years old.” An extremely enriching adventure that has led him to operate in more than 55 countries and has allowed him to build an important international network from which his students have benefited. His duties have notably led him to co-direct several inter-university diplomas and he has participated in numerous juries for national competitions and doctoral theses.
Former president of the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee surgery and Orthopedic Sports medicine (ISAKOS), current secretary general of the foundation of The European Federation of National Associations of Orthopedics and Traumatology (EFORT)— which he chaired until June 2019 — Philippe Neyret is involved in numerous national, European and global learned societies. He has devoted himself to teaching and research — both private and public — as well as to various consulting activities.
